We've started the season off with some great fishing, but crappy weather. It was snowing this morning. No accumulation, but what a shock. It was falling so lightly it looked like forest fire ash. So I guess we are thankful that it wasn't forest fire ash with the unseaonably warm and dry first three weeks of May.

Lars and Jessica went fishing after work last night. Here is Jessica's 23lb - 44 in Pike she caught and released. Wow, great job Jess! And props to your guide Lars.

On the 24th she caught and released a 12lb pike.

The Ice is Out!

HAPPY SPRING EVERYONE! The warmer weather is sure a welcome sight this time of year. Almost all of the snow has melted around the base camp however there is still a lot of ice. Jim and the boys are putting up ice on Kamuchawie this week and the snow is still knee deep up there. The crew has been busy this winter putting up ice, delivering goods and with general clean up at the outposts.....and you thought they took the winter off.

Fishing season in our zone closes tomorrow and the 2010 fishing season opens May 22nd. The Fishing season for Kamuchawie and Laurie lake will open a week later on May 25, 2010. We've had many inquires asking if we think the ice will be off this year. All we can say is Spring does appear to be here a little earlier this year. We will keep you posted on the ice situation.

It looks like we have another busy season ahead of us. We are excited to welcome our guests back and hope the weather will be nicer for the brave souls who join us on opening weekend. We all remember last years muddy icy opening weekend. It didn't seem to dampen any spirits as much as it did their shoes.
